Annexation approved, now what?

11 properties officially part of Humphrey

Annexation is complete.

During a special meeting Dec. 14, the Humphrey City Council approved the third and final reading of the 11 ordinances describing the properties to be annexed with final passage and approval.

Now what?

“The (state) statute requires the city to have a plan for infrastructure within one year of annexation. The city has that plan from our city engineer as well as an estimated cost. There is no timeline for construction of the water and sewer at this time,” Mayor Lonnie Weidner said.

Since his term of mayor ended with Monday’s Humphrey City Council meeting, Weinder said, “I would guess that the city would start preparing construction documents for bidding within the next year, but that is only my opinion since I cannot speak for their future actions.”
