LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Dear Editor,

With so many people resisting masks, for whatever reason, I want to put forward some reasons for many of them to reconsider. At the risk of being “Debbie Downer,” let’s put this on a personal level. How will this affect their financial and family situations? I’ve talked with several people who just want to get “the virus” and become immune. Not everyone is lucky enough to get off lightly because this disease affects so many so differently.

First: Every legal-aged adult needs a health care directive. H.I.P.A.A. laws prevent everyone from medical providers to insurance providers from discussing a person’s health information without express permission, this includes with your spouse. Minor children are the exception. Whoever you choose to be your advocated should have a clear idea of what your wishes are for care if you are unable to make choices for yourself.
