Allison Weidner delivers on promise to win title

Promise kept.

Allison Weidner delivered Saturday on a promise she made a year ago, leading St. Francis to the Class D-2 state championship with a 57-48 win over Falls City Sacred Heart at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln.

After last season’s loss in the finals to Wynot, Weidner promised twins Emma and Hannah Baumgart she would get them a state title this year.

“I promised them that this year would be our year,” Weidner said. “They were crying, I was crying. I promised them that this would be our year, and now we’re undefeated, 25-0, state champs, it feels good.”
