Football could be sacked

Humphrey High’s expected participation numbers to hurt football, boys basketball if school loses Holy Family co-op

Friday night lights could dim for Humphrey Public School.

If the proposed co-op between St. Francis and Lindsay Holy Family becomes reality, HPS might not be able to field a football team or a competitive boys basketball team.

The proposal would end the eight-year co-op between HPS and LHF, which was started because both schools needed each other to participate in athletics. However, the two schools and Twin River recently agreed to coop softball starting next spring, and St. Francis is not joining.

The proposed co-op could start in the spring of 2022.
