The America Red Cross held a blood drive May 8 for the Espiritu and Coble families. Deco Espiritu and Riggs Coble, preschoolers at Platte Center Elementary School, have acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Bernadette 'Bernie' Weidner

Bernadette “Bernie” Weidner, age 86, died Monday, Dec.18, 2023, in Lincoln, Neb.

Services were at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, at St. Joseph Church in Platte Center. Visitation was 12-1 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial is in St. Joseph/ Patrick Cemetery.

Bernie was born June 17, 1937, to Lester Oliver and Lucy Mae (Foglesong) Harsh in Platte Center. She grew up in Platte Center. Bernie graduated from Platte Center High School in 1954. On June 21, 1955, she was united in marriage to Charles Weidner. Bernie worked for 34 years for B-Ds in Columbus. Charles and Bernie’s biggest love in their lives was their family.

Bernie enjoyed several volunteer positions over the years. She also enjoyed attending Nebraska football games with her friends.

She is survived by: Son: Kirk (Janet) Weidner of Lincoln, Neb.

Daughter: Kristie (Jay) Becker of Columbus, Neb.

Son: Craig (Theresa Retzlaff) Weidner of Lincoln, Neb.

Grandchildren: Jerrid (Danie) Becker, Matthew (Ashley) Becker, Kyle (Sara) Becker, Chase Weidner and Tyler Retzlaff Great-grandchildren: Landon Ternus, Ryann and Jaxson Becker;

Owen, Maci and Lucy Becker; Max and Gwen Becker Sister: Betty Koenig of Carrollton, Texas Sister-in-law: Lorraine Harsh Many Nieces and Nephews Special Friend: Megan Griffiths She was preceded in death by: Her parents: Lester Oliver and Lucy Mae (Foglesong) Harsh Husband Charles Siblings: Clifford, Dana, Leslie, Pete, Carroll, Shirley, Phyllis, Zach, Skip, and Margie Harsh Services are with McKown Funeral Home.
