Visitation was Monday from 4-6 p.m. at Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden.
Eileen Elizabeth Hockemeier was born on May 25, 1934, and passed away on May 7, 2025, at the age of 90, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Eileen was born to Clarence and Mary (Shaecher) VanDyke in Humphrey, Nebraska. She attended St. Ben’s School until the eighth grade and then attended St. Francis High School for a short time. Later on, she obtained her GED.
Eileen was united in marriage to LeRoy Hockemeier on June 20, 1959, at St. Francis Church in Humphrey, Neb. To this union they were blessed with three children Lyle, Sue, and Annette.
LeRoy and Eileen resided in rural Petersburg until 1970, when they moved to rural Tilden to continue life on the farm. She wore many hats throughout her life, which involved working at the grocery store, daycare, babysitting, and the Tilden Hospital. The most important was that of beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.
Eileen worked side by side with LeRoy on the farm, until he passed in 1990. Her children were her pride and joy, and she loved watching them grow into the wonderful people they are today. Her grandson Brycen was her greatest joy, she was one of his biggest supporters and was always there when he needed her. Some of her favorite hobbies were going on trips with friends in her younger years. Later in life she enjoyed going for car rides, embroidery work, and visiting family and friends.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, and also a member of the Auxiliary.
Survivors include her children, Lyle Hockemeier (Mary) of Tilden, Neb., Sue Hockemeier of Tilden, Neb., and Annette Hockemeier of Tilden, Neb.; one grandson, Brycen Hockemeier (McKenna) of Tilden, Neb.; siblings, Carroll VanDyke (Barbara) of Columbus, Neb., Richard “Dick” VanDyke (Joan) of Columbus, Neb., Diane Briscoe of Centennial, Colorado, and Cindy Pfeifer (Kevin) of Grand Island, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews.
