Carroll was born on Feb. 6, 1956, to Donald and Lenora (Odermatt) Kallweit in Norfolk, Nebraska. He attended and graduated in May 1974 from Humphrey Public School. Carroll went to Hastings Technical College but came back to farm full-time before completing his certification there. As a youth, he had a horse because his mom loved horses which allowed him to be part of a neighborhood riding group in the Humphrey area. He is credited with the start of the FFA organization in Humphrey during his senior year of high school. Carroll wanted Humphrey to have the same FFA opportunities that his friend, Roger Bachman, talked about having with the Leigh Chapter. The current Humphrey FFA organization holds his upmost pride for all their accomplishments and continued achievements.
Carroll was a member of Creston Baptist Church and held the Treasurer office for many years. While living in Creston area Carroll volunteered his time to the Creston Rescue Unit. He enjoyed trap shooting and was a member of the Creston gun club. In 1996, he participated in The Grand American Trap Shooting competition in Vandalia, Ohio. Carroll ended the competition as runner-up after a late-night tiebreaking round. He also enjoyed taking his 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS to car shows and on cruises.
Carroll and Lori (Boning) Kallweit were married September 1, 1979, at St. Peter Lutheran Church. They are current members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk, a membership he was very proud to be a part of.
Carroll is survived by his wife, Lori of Humphrey; three children: Daniel from Creston, Neb.; Kayleen from Omaha, Neb.; and Mark (Kaitlin) Kallweit of Sherwood, Ore.; brother Daryl (Tonya) Kallweit of Humphrey, and niece and nephews - Quinton (Kyla) and Brooks Krumweide; Cameron (Amanda) Krumweide; Chase Kallweit and Claire Kallweit.
