Alvin John Fuchs, 93, of Columbus, died Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Columbus Community Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025, at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Visitation is Friday 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Vigil service, all being held at the Church. Burial is in All Saints Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors by The American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard.

In lieu of plants, flowers and statues, memorials are suggested to St. Isidore Catholic Church.

Alvin J. Fuchs was born September 12, 1931, in rural Humphrey, Neb., to Tony and Magdalen Van Dyke Fuchs. He graduated from St. Francis High School in Humphrey in 1949. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from January 1952 to January 1956, including two years with the 35th Communication Squadron of the 35th Fighter Group, Johnson AFB, Japan.

On Oct. 16, 1954, he was united in marriage to Helen Ann Widhalm at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey, Neb. After his discharge from the Air Force, he spent forty years in design engineering and metal fabrication for general construction and ornamental projects. He established M & O Metals in 1970, growing the operation to include Overhead Door Company of Columbus. He retired from active management in 1996.

Al was a parishioner for 59 years of St. Isidore Catholic Church. Following his retirement, he served as Building and Grounds Maintenance Manager for 13 years. Al was heavily involved in the new Church build and was the Building Committee Co-Chairman. He was a member of the Columbus Home Builders Association, The American Legion, VFW, and the Knights

of Columbus. His personal interests included antique tractors and engines, hunting, bowling, and reading.

He is survived by: Wife- Helen Daughter- Julie (John) Christiansen Son- Dan (Nora) Fuchs Son- Eric Fuchs (Alissa Suan) Brother- Jerry (Janet) Fuchs 8 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren Numerous brothers and sisters in law He is preceded in death by: Parents- Tony and Magdalen Fuchs Brother- Mark Fuchs In laws- Albert and Agnes Widhalm Three Great Grandsons- Anthony, Marcus, and Graham Fuchs McKown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
