A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2025, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island with visitation one hour prior to the Mass at church. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island with military honors conducted by the American Legion, Milan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Pius Church.

Paul was born May 4, 1941 in Humphrey, Neb., the son of Charles and Evelyn (Boesch) Fischer. He was a US Army Veteran. He married Jane Shemek on May 30, 1964 in Tarnov, Neb.

Paul worked at John Deere Plow Planter as a welder, Moline, retiring in 2004 after 40 years of service.

Paul was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, watching the wildlife in the backyard, spending time with friends and making memories with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Paul’s kindness and love for his wife and family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Jane; children, Michelle Stewart, Kissimmee, Fla., Tara (John) Schroeder, Wesley Chapel, Fla., and Shannon Fischer, Rock Island; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and a brother, Larry Fischer, Lindsay, Neb. He was preceded in death by his son-inlaw, Joe Stewart.
