Bernard 'Ben' J. Hastreiter

Bernard “Ben” J. Hastreiter, 52, of Humphrey, Nebraska, died peacefully on Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, at his mother’s home, rural Humphrey, surrounded by his family.

Ben was born on Nov. 14, 1972, in Norfolk, Neb., to Tom and Kris (Korth) Hastreiter. He grew up in Humphrey and graduated from Humphrey St. Francis in 1991. After high school, Ben proudly enlisted in the United States Army National Guard-Airborne Division and served his country with honor.

Ben was a jack of all trades and master of most. He followed in his dad’s footsteps and found his calling behind the wheel as an over the road truck driver. The open road was where he felt most at home, windows down and music up.

On April 1, 2017, Ben married Alicia Kardisco. Together they raised two wonderful children, McKynlee and Maverick, who carry his heart, humor, and bold spirit. He also shared a special bond with Moriah and Meredyth, who brought their own light and laughter into the family.

If you knew Ben, you have a story and probably a good one. He was the life of the party, never met a stranger, and never passed up a chance to make someone laugh. His quick wit, fearless charm, and big-hearted presence made him unforgettable. Ben lived loudly, loved deeply, and laughed often. He left behind memories that will be retold for years, some with tears, most with

laughter. He will be missed. He will be remembered. He would insist we crank up a Gary Allan song and keep the good times rolling.

Survived by wife Alicia, their children McKynlee and Maverick of Humphrey. Daughter Brooke Knapp and granddaughter Karmahni Madlock of Lincoln.
