Funeral service for Wayne E. Seibert, 94, of Norfolk, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Rev. Brian Johnson will be officiating the service. Interment will be held at the Laurel City Cemetery in Laurel, Nebraska following the funeral luncheon. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 16, V.F.W. Post 1644, and the United States Army Honor Guard. Wayne passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at the Norfolk Veterans Home in Norfolk. Wayne was born on March 4, 1931 in Laurel, Nebraska to Mark and Alta (Eby) Seibert. He grew up in the Laurel/Coleridge area. He graduated from Coleridge High School in 1948. Wayne served in the United States Army from April 14, 1952 to March 5, 1954.

He married Mary Ann Hinrichs on June 3, 1954 at United Presbyterian church in Laurel. After married the couple lived in Laurel for a year, then moved to the Seibert family farm north of Laurel ten miles. Wayne filled his days farming, raising livestock, and selling Dekalb seed corn.

They moved off the farm to Norfolk in 2007. They were members of First Presbyterian Church in Norfolk. He was active in the church serving as an elder and was a member of the V.F.W. Wayne volunteered at the food pantry, and always lent a helping hand that was needed, along with spending time at the Orphan Grain Train. Wayne & Mary Ann moved to the Norfolk Veterans Home in 2023.

Survivors include four daughters

Kimberly Wetjen of Humphrey, Laurie Seibert of Tulsa, OK, Jane Seibert of Marlton, New Jersey, Paula (Paul) Perske of David City, NE, three grandchildren, Kara (Tim) Gronenthal, Justin (Sheena) Wetjen, Olivia Perske, great-grandchildren Allissia (Bryan) Harms, Ashley Gronenthal, Elsie Wetjen, Ciera Predmore, Korbin Predmore, Saige Predmore, great-great grandchildren, Danielle, Brynleigh, and Hayden Harms.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Seibert on May 26, 2025, son-in-law Larry Wetjen, grandson in-law Jeff Gronenthal, parents Mark and Alta Seibert, brother Robert Seibert, sister Barbara Soderberg.
