David A. Kratochvil

David A. Kratochvil

Private family services will be held at a later date for David A. Kratochvil, 75, of Humphrey, Neb. David passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025 at his home in Humphrey. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

David was born on July 25, 1950, to Marvin and Helen Virginia (Ritter) Kratochvil in Humphrey, Neb. He graduated from Madison High School and later enlisted in the United States Air Force. After serving his country, David returned to Nebraska and attended college at Central Community College in Columbus, earning an associate’s degree.

After college David worked at Behlen Manufacturing Co. in Columbus as a machinist. He worked for Orion Corporation of Nebraska out of Columbus. He also worked for the Harley-Davidson dealership in Columbus. When he wasn’t hard at work you could find him riding his Harley with the Scorpions Motorcycle Club. Born and raised on a farm, David was a simple man whose true passion was working the land and tending to his crops. After assisting his Father and owning a neighboring farm for twenty-five years, David retired, moved to town, and built a collection of classic cars and motorcycles.

David is survived by his three children, Christopher Michael (Jennifer) Kratochvil of Windsor, Colo.; Theresa Lynn Kratochvil of Fremont, Neb.; Rikki Theresa Kratochvil of Bellevue, Neb.; Significant Other Mary Buggi

of Humphrey, Neb.; Two sisters, Kathy (Jueventino) Naranjo of Norfolk, Neb.; Karen (Kevin) Raatz of Norfolk, Neb.; Ex-wife Cindy (Cline) Want. Five grandchildren, Nathan Kratochvil, Madison Kratochvil, Cassiauna Kratochvil, Raven/Phara Kratochvil, and Emily Kratochvil. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Helen Virginia, Two sisters Linda (Terry) Cranston and Beth (Jerry) Scheffler, and ex-wife Kathleen (Sargent) Kratochvil.
