Rose A. Weiland was born on Oct. 6, 1929, on a farm outside of St. Bernard, Neb. She was the youngest daughter of Maxmilian and Barbara (Huthmacher) Babel. She had six brothers and one sister.
Rose met William “Bill” Weiland at a dance in Humphrey, and the rest is history. They were married on May 10, 1950, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church and were blessed with six children.
Rose was a member of St. Leonard’s Catholic Church and the Ladies Guild. She was the bookkeeper of Bill’s business, Weiland Well Company.
Rose loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved animals, trying new recipes, gardening,
planting flowers, and listening to birds. After Bill retired, they would spend six to eight weeks of winter in Florida, enjoying the warm weather.
Rose is survived by five of her six children, Sam (Jeanie) of Norfolk, Steve (Darla) of Broken Arrow, Okla., Susie (Ardell Oswald) of Bonita Springs, Fla., Kathy (Scott Barg) of Wayne, and Peg (Jeff Freudenburg) of Madison; daughter-in-law, Lynn of Garland; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, William in 1999; and son, Arthur in 2017.
