Remi Joseph Wiehn
Remi Joseph Wiehn

On Oct. 30, 1982, Remi married the love of his life, Bette Papstein, in Columbus, Neb. Together they had two sons, Nick and Jacob, and they built a life full of love, laughter, and lasting memories.
Remi was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. He had a deep love for sports, particularly Husker athletics, Cincinnati Red’s Baseball, Cincinnati Bengal’s Football, and cherished the time spent coaching his sons’ sports teams during their childhood. Remi’s commitment to youth sports extended beyond coaching; he was an active member of the Puma Soccer Board and the York Youth Baseball Board, helping to shape the lives of many young athletes.
Remi was also involved with the Sunrise Sertoma Club. His love of fishing was matched only by his joy in sharing stories with others. Every Sunday was spent enjoying polka music.
He is survived by his wife Bette of York; sons: Nick (Maggie) Wiehn of Lincoln, Neb., and Jacob (Kyndell) of Naperville, Ill.; his granddaughter Elsie and another grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his siblings: Larry (Diane) Wiehn of Lincoln, Kevin Wiehn of Columbus, Neb., Jim (Jane) Wiehn of Humphrey, Neb., Brian (Cheryl) Wiehn of Columbus, Neb., and
Linda Wiehn of Norfolk, Neb.; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John, brother- in-law Todd Papstein, sisterin- law Cathy, and nephew Jason Beed.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. Remi has been cremated. There is no viewing. There will be a visitation and signing of his book from 1-4 p.m. at the mortuary, with family greeting friends from 6-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the church.
