George E. Pfeifer

Funeral service for George E. Pfeifer, 90, of Norfolk, Neb., formerly of Lindsay, Neb., was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Nov.7, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk. Father Pat McLaughlin will be officiating the service. Interment was held at the Holy Family Cemetery, Lindsay. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, also at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk, and a rosary began at 7 p.m. Military rites were conducted after the funeral by the American Legion Post 16, V.F.W. Post 1644, and the United States Navy Honor Guard.

George passed away on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk, Neb. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

George was born on April 7, 1935 to Lawrence and Dorothy (Syslo) Pfeifer in Lindsay, Neb. George attended St. Bernard schools until the 8th grade. On Nov. 22 he enlisted in the United States Navy, he was honorable discharged on Nov. 21, 1961. On Aug. 9, 1958 he married the love of his life Elaine Zuerlein at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey, Neb. To this union 15 children were born.

Being a farmer George was always working hard and loved working with wood and doing small projects around the house. He was a jack of all trades. He loved fishing and ice fishing, and taking family vacations.

George is survived by his wife Elaine, children; Michael (Donna) Pfeifer, of Lindsay, Sandy (Val) Walker, of Norfolk, Susan (Rock) Lozano, of Lincoln, Jeanne (Dan) Boesch, of Fremont, Lynne Maguire, of Norfolk, Debbie (Jim) Lehl, of Grand Island, Julie (Steve) Maguire, of David City, Karen (Wendell) Victor, of Lincoln, Jennifer (Paulo) Gallate, of Atlanta, Becky (Mike) Victor, of Colorado, Amy (Chris) Fruehwald, of Omaha, Sara (Travis) Evans, of Kearney, Alice Grimes, of Atlanta, Andy (Stacy) Pfeifer, of Lincoln, and Christy (KJay) Wright, of Grand Island. 34 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 brothers Erv (Carol) Pfeifer, of New Mexico, and LaVern Pfeifer, of Texas, and 1 sister-in-law Betty Pfeifer, of York.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ralph Pfeifer, and son-in-law Ken Porter.
