Mary Jo Olmer

Mary Jo Olmer

Mary Jo Olmer peacefully passed away on Dec. 3, 2025, at St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by love, at the age of 84. She was born on June 12, 1941, in Omaha, Neb., to Howard and Louise (Colgan) Weigle.

She graduated with the North Bend High School class of 1959 and later attended the University of Nebraska, where she met William “Bill” Olmer at the Newman Center. They were united in marriage on July 6, 1963, at St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend, beginning a journey together that lasted 62 years.

Mary Jo was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Choir and Altar Society and served as an usher for many years. Her life was filled with joy in simple pleasures — boating on sunny days, playing cards with dear friends, and cherishing every moment with her beloved grandchildren.

She leaves behind her husband, Bill; two children, Kimberly Ann Kelly (Kevin) and Scott William Olmer (Barbara); and five grandchildren — Reid and Ally Behrens, Amelia, Benedict, and Stella Olmer — who brought her endless happiness. She is preceded in death by her parents and many beloved relatives.

Mary Jo’s faith and love touched all who knew her.

Memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Lourdes Central Catholic School, honoring her lifelong devotion to her community and faith.
