Rynelda M. Schumacher was born on Nov. 6, 1927, at home in St. Bernard, Nebraska, to Charles and Elizabeth (Kurtenbach) Korth. She attended St. Ben school through 9th grade and then when her older brother was called to the military, she had to stay home and help on the farm. Nell was united in marriage to Vess Kruse at St. Bernard Catholic Church on Sept. 3, 1947. They had four children, Dan, Sam, Nancy and Kim. Vess and Nell ran the Green Room Café and managed the Humphrey Ballroom. Vess passed away unexpectedly in 1969. After Vess’ death, Nell worked at Albers Dental Office and Klub 81.
Nell was united in marriage to Dale Schumacher in 1981. He farmed near Cornlea until his retirement. Dale passed away in 2018. They lived in Humphrey in the home that Vess and Nell built in 1954. Nell lived in that home until moving to Brookestone Acres in 2025. She enjoyed everything about her Brookestone experience.
Some of Nell’s favorite pastimes were playing cards, bowling, quilting, and socializing. She enjoyed being around people, especially her children and grandchildren, visiting and going to sporting events. Nell was a member of St. Francis Church and Christian Mothers.
