Dennis B. Pfeifer

Dennis B. Pfeifer, 78, of David City, Neb., passed away peacefully Saturday, March 21, 2026, at his home in David City.

Visitation is Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 4-6 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in David City. There will be a vigil service immediately following visitation at 6 p.m. at the church.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindsay. Burial will take place in Holy Family Cemetery. McKown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dennis was born Oct. 14, 1947, in Humphrey, Neb., to Edwin and Florene (Heimann) Pfeifer. He grew up on the family farm in Lindsay, Neb. Dennis attended Saint Bernard School and graduated from Lindsay Holy Family High School in 1966. He was united in marriage to Joan M Dohmen on September 29, 1969 at Lindsay Holy Family Catholic Church.

The couple lived in Lindsay, Neb., until moving to David City in 2001. Dennis was an Army Veteran, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, and a retired member of the Lindsay volunteer fire and rescue squad. He was a member of Lindsay Holy Family Catholic Church and Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in David City.

Dennis was an avid golfer and enjoyed Nebraska golf passport. He enjoyed the horse races, wood working, hunting, and yardwork. Dennis enjoyed playing cards with his brothers and grandkids and the annual blue rock shoot. In November 2025 Dennis received a quilt of Valor which held a lot of special meaning for him. Dennis cherished his family.

Survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife, Joan Pfeifer, of David City, Neb., two daughters, Michelle (Todd) Schleich, Melissa (Craig) Pritchard, and one son Brian (Jen) Pfeifer. Grandchildren, Lakin, Colton (Chantal), Allie (Nate), Dillon (Maddi), Trevor, Elizabeth (Sam), Jacob, and David and two great-granddaughters Sutton and Callie. Four sisters Julie Stock, Dee (Glenn) Stenger, Sharon (Allan) Broussard, Lori (Erv) Beiermann, six brothers Roger (Linda), Jerry (Kathy), Steve (Dee), Greg, Alvin (Joanie), Randy (Judy), brother and sister-in-law’s, Marlene (Charlie) Beiermann, and Larry (Yvette) Dohmen, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Edwin and Florene Pfeifer, mother-in-law Angie Dohmen, son-in-law David Kohl, sister-in law Mary Pfeifer, and brother-in-law’s Kenneth Dohmen and Raymond Stock.
