LaVonne 'Pat' Patricia Dohmen

LaVonne “Pat” Patricia Dohmen, 88, of Humphrey, Neb., died Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek, Neb.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, July 31 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindsay, Neb., with Father Dan Wittrock and Father Rod Kneifl con-celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Vigil and Rosary Service at the church. Visitation will continue at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until service time. Memorials are suggested as those of the family or donor’s choice.

Pat was born March 17, 1938, in Columbus, Neb., to Stanley and Inez (Bisson) Kula. She graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus and on May 22, 1956, was united in marriage to Ervin Dohmen at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus. In 1957 the couple moved to a farm near the Platte/Madison County line where they farmed and raised their family. They were blessed with 12 children.

The family was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church until it closed in 1971. Pat enjoyed working in the Newman Grove nursing home as a cook for several years. She was a member of the VFW/American Legion Auxiliary in Newman Grove, the Red Hat Society, and served on several committees at Holy Family Catholic Church. Pat and Ervin were the proud recipients of an award from Holy Family Catholic School when all 12 of their children graduated with a total of 33 years of attendance.

Pat loved the holidays, especially St. Patrick Day since it was her birthday. She enjoyed playing cards, singing, embroidering pillowcases and towels, and cooking for her family when they came on Sunday. Pat loved watching sports on the television, especially Husker football, golf and horse racing, but don’t leave out the Kansas City Chiefs her favorite pro team. Everyone was welcome in her home.

In 2012, Pat and Ervin moved into Humphrey where they were members of St. Francis Catholic Church.

Pat is survived by: children, Christine (Mike) Koile of Smithville, Mo., DeAnna (Glenn) Heinen of Humphrey, Joseph Dohmen of Humphrey, Shirley (Bill) Wegener of Platte Center, David Dohmen of St. Edward, Tamara (Roger) Prauner of Battle Creek, Mark Dohmen of Lindsay, Mitch (Barb) Dohmen of Humphrey, Arthur Dohmen of Humphrey, Ryan (Sherri) Dohmen of Humphrey, Colynn (Brent) Paprocki of Humphrey; 35 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; brother LaRoy (Dona) Edic of Columbus, sister-in-law Rose Jacobs of Columbus, brother-in-law Roy Greenfield of Amherst; sistersin- law Jane (Ferd) Dohmen of Monroe, Sharon (Vince) Dohmen of Madison, and Patty (Ken) Brandl of Omaha.

Pat was preceded into eternal life by: her parents, husband Ervin in 2013, daughter Lisa in 1982, daughter-in-law LeAnne (Salmen) Dohmen in 2017, grandson Matthew Dohmen in 2020, daughter-in-law Sarah (Fitzsimons) Dohmen in 2002, brothers Dave Kula, Jim Kula, and Jay Edic; sisters Lorraine Freeman and Jenny Greenfield.
