Mass of Christian Burial at Lindsay Holy Family Catholic Church was held on Monday, Aug. 10, at 10 a.m. and Father Dan Wittrock celebrated the Mass. Visitation was on Sunday from 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. vigil service, both at the church. Visitation continued on Monday from 9 a.m. until Mass time, also at the church. Memorials are suggested to Holy Family Grade School, or those of family choice.

Patricia Mary Hemmer was born Nov. 27, 1949, in West Point, Neb., the daughter of August and Mildred (Wackel) Heimann. She grew up on a farm near West Point, moved to Colorado Springs, Colo. to attend Mount St. Francis High School where she graduated from in 1968. Patty then attended the College of St. Mary in Omaha, graduating in 1972. Patty spent five years teaching in Saipan, an island in the Pacific Ocean. She also taught in Greeley, Columbus and Humphrey Catholic schools, before retiring in 2015 after 24 years of teaching at Holy Family School in Lindsay.

On May 30, 1980, Patricia was united in marriage to David Hemmer at St. Boniface Church in Monterey, Neb. She was a member of the Holy Family Ladies Guild and served two terms on the parish council. Patty enjoyed reading, sitting on the deck, watching animals and playing

with her seven grandchildren. Patty and Dave enjoyed 46 years of marriage on their farm place near Lindsay. They built the house in 1980 on the farmstead near Dave’s parents’ home.

Patty is survived by: Husband - David Hemmer of Lindsay; Son - Andrew Hemmer of Norfolk; Grandchildren - Autumn, Oliver, Cooper and Axel; Son - Scott (Megan) Hemmer of Lindsay; Grandchildren - Charles, Henry and Walter; Sister - Sister Nadine Heimann OSF of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Sister - Kathleen Mulder of Foley, Ala.; and many Hemmer and Heimann relatives.
