LaVede was united in marriage to Merlin K. Wallin in Fremont, Neb. on Nov. 17, 1957. The couple lived in Columbus, Neb. for nine months before moving to their current home north of Newman Grove where they have resided for the past 67 years.

LaVede was raised in the Methodist church and upon her marriage to Merlin, became a member of Rose Hill Evangelical Free Church north of Newman Grove. Upon the closure of Rose Hill, LaVede began attending church at Trinity Lutheran Church in Newman Grove. Throughout her life LaVede was never idle. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, needlepointing, flowers, crocheting, and Husker volleyball. Every grandchild and greatgrandchild received a blanket specially crocheted by her. Her family was the most important thing in her life, and she made sure that no one was ever left out.

She is survived by her husband: Merlin Wallin of Newman Grove, Neb.; eight children: Brian (Christie) Wallin of Newman Grove, Neb.; Betty (friend Roger Ehrisman) Nelson of Norfolk, Neb.; Bonnie Wallin-Kuntz of Otis, Colo.; Barry (Jane) Wallin of Newman Grove, Neb.; Barbie (Jay) Nelson of Newman Grove, Neb.; Brad (Becky) Wallin of Newman Grove, Neb.; Bridgett (Michael) Hanzel of Tarnov, Neb.; Bart (Brandi) Wallin of Newman Grove, Neb.; 28 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends.

LaVede was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Emil and Dorothy (Bley) Wallin; eight brothersin- law and seven sisters-in-law.
