Audrey Fuchs

Audrey Fuchs, age 87, of Columbus, Neb., died Saturday November 11, 2023 at the Meridian Gardens in Columbus.

Immediate family funeral services were Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023, at the McKown Funeral Home. Interment is in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Madison Memorials may be directed to the Azheimer’s Association or the donor’s choice.

Audrey Marie was born April 17, 1936, in Fairview Precinct, northwest of Madison, Neb., to Jesse and Marie (Huddle) Chittenden. She graduated from Madison High School in 1954 and received her Bachelor's degree in elementary education with a minor in library science from Wayne State College.

She was united in marriage to Allen Fuchs on April 12, 1958 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Battle Creek, Neb. They became the parents to four children, Sandra, Randy, Richard and Robert.

Audrey taught rural schools in Madison County, and at Humphrey St. Francis and Lindsay Holy Family for a number of years. Her last years in education were as a librarian at Humphrey St. Francis retiring in 1999.

She and her husband, Allen, live and farmed southwest of Audrey Fuchs

Madison their entire married life. Allen passed in 2006. Audrey later married Glenn Wedekind.

Daughter, Sandra (Steve) Gabel; 3 sons, Randy (Barb) Fuchs, Richard (Teresa) Fuchs, and Robert (Ann) Fuchs; 5 grandchildren, Sean Gabel , Hannah (Jared) Curry, Ryan Fuchs, Carey Fuchs and Eric Gabel, sister: Donna Nelson Audrey was preceded in death by her parents: Jesse and Marie Chittenden, husbands: Allen Fuchs and Glenn Wedekind, sister: Ardyce O’Neill, brother: Vernon Chittenden.
