Coletta W. Wemhoff

Coletta W. Wemhoff, 98, of Humphrey, Neb., died Sept. 20, 2017, at Countryside Home in Madison, Neb.

A Mass of Christian Burial was 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey, Neb., and burial was in St. Francis Cemetery, and Father Patrick A. McLaughlin and Fathers James Weeder officiated.

Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Sunday, with a 4 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. Scripture service, and 9 a.m. Monday, all at the church.

Coletta was born Sept. 17, 1919, near St. Bernard, Platte County, Neb., the daughter of Charles A. and Helen (Sueper) Beiermann, and attended St. Bernard Catholic School. On Jan. 28, 1941, Coletta and Anthony B. Wemhoff were united in marriage in St. Bernard Catholic Church near Lindsay, Neb. She and Tony lived in Geneseo, Ill., returning to rural St. Mary’s to farm.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing and playing cards. She mastered the art of tatting.

Surviving are her daughters Marilyn (William) Heesacker, of Humphrey, Neb.; Lois Merrill, of Humphrey, Neb.; Beverly (Neil) Kemper, of St. Edward, Neb.; Kathleen (Jerry) Burgess, of Concordia, Kan.; Judy (Tom) Gant, of Martell, Neb.; Peggy (Clark) Evans, of Concordia, Kan.; Geri (Randy) Bender, of Humphrey, Neb.; and Jeanette (Terry) Helmer, of Humphrey, Neb.; 31 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; 10 greatgreat-grandchildren; and brother Alfred (Jeanie) Beiermann of Columbus, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Anthony; daughter Charlotte Wemhoff; sons Michael and Lyle; sons-inlaw Steve Toogood and Allen Merrill; sister Sister Gorgonia Wemhoff, OSF; brother Alois Beiermann; and half-brother Matt Beiermann.

Direct memorials to the donor’s or family’s choice.

Casket bearers were Tommy Heesacker, Tony Merrill, Doug Burgess, Juston Helmer, Brandon Gant and Keith Kemper.
