Elaine J. Geilenkirchen

Elaine J. Geilenkirchen, 94, of Lindsay, Neb., passed away Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society-Albion in Albion, Neb.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023, at Holy Family Church in Lindsay, Neb., with Father Stan Schmit officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery, Lindsay, Neb. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the church with a 7 p.m. wake service.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.levanderfuneralhome. com Elaine Josephine Geilenkirchen Elaine Josephine Geilenkirchen, daughter of Edward “Ole” and Bessie (Suchan) Iwansky, was born on Sept. 21, 1929, at Lindsay, Neb. She was baptized and confirmed at Holy Family Church in Lindsay. Elaine attended school at Lindsay Holy Family and graduated from there with the class of 1947.

On May 9, 1950, Elaine was united in marriage to Maynard Joseph Geilenkirchen at Holy Family Church. The couple made their home in the Lindsay area. Elaine worked as a bookkeeper at Lindsay Farmer’s Co-Op for over 30 years.

Elaine was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Holy Family Guild. She was also a lifetime member of Holy Family

Church. Elaine enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and following Husker volleyball and football. She also enjoyed cooking and having family get-togethers.

Elaine is survived by her seven children: Dave (Eilene) Geilenkirchen of Lindsay, Neb.; Carol Martin of Liberty, Neb.; Ted (Marcia) Geilenkirchen of Omaha, Neb.; Gail (Bob) Mattke of Grand Island, Neb.; Chris (Beth) Geilenkirchen of Norfolk, Neb.; Mary (Bill) Speicher of Columbus, Neb.; Neil Geilenkirchen of Lindsay, Neb.; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Maynard; two sons-in-law: John Bartak; Kenny Martin; brother: Ed (Gladys) Iwansky; and two sisters: Lorraine (Rich) Morgan; Dorothy (Jim) Dohmen.
