Kenneth Hoefelman

Kenneth Hoefelman, 87, of Columbus, Neb., died Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 19, at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Michael Klatt officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery (12.5 miles north). Visitation was Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested as those of the donor's choice or Peace Lutheran Church. Ken was born March 5, 1930, in Platte County, Neb., to Ernest and Ida (Rosendahl) Hoefelman. He attended Platte County School District #21, St. John's Lutheran School, and Creston High School. On Nov. 21, 1949, Ken was united in marriage to Marjorie Martensen in Vermillion, S.D. The couple lived on the farm until 1959 when they moved to Humphrey and in 1978 they moved into Columbus. Kenneth worked for Desoto Plymouth Auto in Columbus. He began driving truck over the road at the age of 20, and later started his own company K & M Enterprises, and later Cornhusker Trucking and Columbus Truck & Repair. He retired from trucking in 1996. Kenneth enjoyed watching race cars, fishing, woodworking,and spending time with his family. He was a loyal member of Peace Lutheran Church. Ken is survived by: Son - Ron (Joan) Hoefelman of Columbus, Neb. Son - Darrell (Sherry) Hoefelman of Columbus, Neb. Son-in-law - Lonnie Korus of Omaha, Neb. Grandchildren - Christie (Rex) Vorthmann, Danyelle (Steve) Amato, Brent (Melissa) Hoefelman, Jared (Molly) Hoefelman, Amanda (Ross) Richards, Bobbi (Nathan) Hohman, and Mikayla Hoefelman Great Grandchildren - Brandon, Kim, Jessica, Stephen, Allison, and Tristan Vorthamnn, Kayle and Kristian Amato, and foster child Jack Sister - Dorothy Nitsch of Columbus, NE Ken was preceded in death by: Parents - Ernest and Ida Hoefelman Wife - Marge Hoefelman on Nov. 6, 2006 Daughter - Carol Korus on Oct. 12, 2015 Brothers - LaVern and Donley Hoefelman Condolences may be sent towww.gasshaney.com
