The America Red Cross held a blood drive May 8 for the Espiritu and Coble families. Deco Espiritu and Riggs Coble, preschoolers at Platte Center Elementary School, have acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Marlene (Havlovic) Veik

Marlene (Havlovic) Veik, age 62 of Humphrey, Neb., lost her courageous battle with cancer on Friday, April 14, at Butler County Health Care Center in David City. 
 
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 19th at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey, Neb., and burial in St. Francis Cemetery with Father Patrick A. McLaughlin officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. with the service to follow at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at St. Francis Church in Humphrey.
