Mary Ann Stodola, “Punch, Toots” 86 years, of Fremont, Neb., passed away Monday, March 4, 2024, surrounded by family at Methodist Health in Fremont.

Mary Ann was born May 10, 1937 to Edward and Grace (Hastreiter) Labenz in St. Bernard, Neb. She attended High School in Lindsay, Neb. On May 16, 1956, Mary Ann married the love of her life LeRoy Stodola at St. Francis of Assisi in Humphrey, Neb.

Mary Ann enjoyed playing cards, drinking coffee, gardening, going to church, and spending time with family and friends. Her personality shined through enough to give her the nicknames Punch or Toots. Mary Ann was a master at many skills allowing her to be self-employed owning many rental properties. Painting, laying carpet, and shingling were just a few talents she taught her kids and grandkids.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Grace Labenz; husband LeRoy, a sister, Germaine Brown; brothers Alfred, Alois, Nicholas, Eugene, and Victor Labenz.

She is survived by her son’s Terry Stodola of Fremont; Gary (Zoann) Stodola of Florida; Larry (Patty) Stodola of Fremont; daughter Sherry (Brain) Wiese of Fremont and extended daughter Karla Labenz. Grandchildren Jeremy (Robin) Stodola; Melissa Stodola (Amber Sorensen); Rudi (Nathan) Neuberger; Charlee (Kyle) Bierman; Tabitha (Kyle) Kern; Toni Wiese and step grandchildren, Curtis Carl Morris.

Great grandchildren Jake Stodola, Nelle Neuberger, Lynden and Bergen Bierman, Knox and Brix Kern, and bonus great grandchildren Dylan Cowens and Cheyanne Stodola.

Funeral Mass was 10 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2024 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. Visitation was Thursday from 5-7 p.m. and a rosary started at 7 p.m. at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.

Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
