Lady Flyers battle, but fall in first round to FCSH

It’s safe to say St. Francis has never faced anyone as good as Erison Vonderschmidt.

The Falls City Sacred Heart junior middle hitter knocked down 29 kills Thursday to lead her team past the Lady Flyers 23- 25, 25-15, 25-22 and 25-23 in the first round of the Class D-2 state playoffs at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The match was tight throughout, but between Vonderschmidt and Irish defense, it was too much for St. Francis to overcome.
