Lady Flyers fall to Ewing

After tying up the sets at 1, St. Francis could not hold back a determined Ewing squad.
 
Top-seeded Ewing was able to hold off Humphrey St. Francis 25-23, 29-31, 25-14, 25-20 Friday morning at Pinnacle Bank Arena in their Class D2 semifinal.
 
Bailey Schindler finished with a team-best 23 kills and seven solo blocks, and Ashley Koenig added 17 kills and 16 digs.
 
That trio — Koenig, Schindler and Tiana Thramer — caused some insomnia for Humphrey St. Francis coach Dean Korus, whose team had to overcome the emotions of a five-game match against Red Cloud on Thursday evening.
