Marine Corps PFC John P. “Jack” Langan will be buried in Platte Center’s St. Joseph-St. Patrick Cemetery Wednesday, Sept. 29, next to family members. Humphrey Pubic School science classes cooking up salsa, raising butterflies

These are from the Applied Science class, 11th grade. During the unit on acids, bases, and pH, the students can salsa. They learn why acids, bases, and pH are important in the canning process. They also learn about various bacteria and how they can spoil our canned foods and how some can produce toxins that cause food poisoning. Students are preparing the tomatoes for the salsa.
