The 4th of July Family Parade in Humphrey Tuesday made it ways through neighborhoods as kids and adults rode bikes, tractors, 4-wheelers and walked to celebrate the day.
It’s clear as the ketchup on his face, Jett Kapels, 2, enjoyed Creston’s 4th of July picnic Tuesday. Rain forced the cancelation of other events, but fireworks will light up the sky at 10 p.m. tonight (Wednesday).

Old favorites, new events on tap for Friday, Saturday

Platte Center’s mud volleyball got a boost from a rainfall the night before. The annual tournament begins the Fourth of July celebration that includes Friday’s frog jumping contest and turtle races. Saturday includes a Fun Run, pop-up pub and lawn mower porker run. On Sunday, the fire department will have a water fight, and there’s a community meal. On the Fourth of July, the parade kicks off the day, followed by a lunch, kiddie tractor pull and demolition derby. Democrat photos
