Each year the lower Elkhorn Natural Resources Districts sponsors a Conservation Poster contest. The goal of the contest is to engage students in learning about natural resources and the opportunities that are available to protect the environment. The theme was “healthy forests equal healthy communities.” With the encouragement of teacher Stacie Baumgart, the secondgrade class from Humphrey St. Francis took part in the competition and had two winners, Noelle Heinen placed first and Brylie Reigle placed third. They follow in the footsteps of Kenna Olmer as she placed second last year. The contest is open to students across Nebraska. Courtesy photo
